The Tomas Hirschfeld and FACSS Student Awards recognize the most outstanding papers submitted to FACSS by a graduate student. Recipients will receive economy travel to the meeting, complimentary registration, and complimentary hotel accommodations. In order to have your presentation considered for a Tomas Hirschfeld Award or FACSS Student Award, students should submit their abstract using the FACSS web site submission form, indicate on the dropdown menu on the form their interest in the award, complete this form, and submit three sets of the following: a)application form; b) 250 word abstract of the proposed presentation for the FACSS conference; c) two letters of nomination, one by the student's mentor; d) a resumé; e) graduate transcripts; f) copies of reprints and/or preprints of research done. Deadline April 30, 2009. COBLENTZ Student Awards - The Coblentz Society is soliciting nominations of outstanding students for the Coblentz Student Awards. Graduate or undergraduate students who have shown excellence in vibrational spectroscopy and/or coursework including vibrational spectroscopy may be nominated. The nominator must be a member of the Coblentz Society. Deadline is February 1, 2010. For additional information contact Brian Marquardt marquardt@apl.washington.edu. SAS Student Poster Awards - A competition for SAS students who are presenting authors will be held and recognition for four outstanding posters will be given. The judging will take place on Sunday evening. All SAS students should put up their posters on Sunday evening before the opening mixer as well as on their assigned presentation day. Student SAS members must select the appropriate box on the on-line paper submission form to ensure they are considered. Student awardees will receive a free 1-year SAS membership and a plaque highlighting their achievement. FACSS Student Poster Awards - Prizes will be awarded throughout the week for outstanding student poster presentations. CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP REGISTRATION: Be sure to take advantage of the student rates for the conference and for all workshops. STUDENT VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for student volunteers at the FACSS Conference. In exchange for 4 hours of your time, you can receive a complimentary conference registration.
